How to Increase the Body Weight of Broilers?

How to Increase the Body Weight of Broilers?

No Consumers want to buy broiler chickens with lower weights, and some Consumers are

even willing to go with the price you want to sell them when he/she is impressed with the

broilers' weight. We are so sure that some chicken farmers are feeding a number of broiler

chickens to sell during festive periods such as Christmas, Easter, or Sallah etc.

We also know chicken farmers are worried about something. Most of all, the broilers are

not growing as you expected them to be. Because we all know it is not easy raising broilers

for over 2 months, but how can we get as much meat as we can from Broilers.

The truth is that, the more body weight is, the more profit you will get. Therefore, you can

still do something to make your broiler chicken grow bigger. Let us explain how to make

broilers add more weight without incurring additional cost.

Here are four ways to achieve this:

1. Choose broilers according to their sizes and weights

The first thing chicken farmers need to do is that you should choose your broilers that have

similar body size or weight together, and keep them in the same growing pen, and you will

get a even growth flock. In addition, they will be able to feed well, however they look big and

strong. You can increase the quantity of finisher feeds given to the group with lower weights.

When you do this, you will surely see a difference later.

2. Use broiler growth promoter or enhancer

We never support farmers using growth enhancers for their Poultry, for growth enhancers could

be harmful to your poultry in one way or others. However, if chicken farmers insist on using them,

please try and research on them and consult your veterinarian.

3. Avoid starving the chickens

In Africa, Some of chicken farmers starve their chickens in the name of eating too much and producing

too few. What a foolish thought it is! Some Chicken farmers expect some miracles happen, with not

giving their broilers enough feed to eat. In fact, you feed your chickens well, they will grow bigger and

attract more market prices. There are some cases where broilers don’t grow well, irrespective of the

quality and quantity of feed given to them. The basic reason for this is related to the broilers' breed, that

is genetic foundation. So chicken farmers will have to purchase a good broiler breed from a reputable farm.
